Ink Express Subli-TEXTILE vs. Truepix vs. TexPrint XPHR Sublimation Paper

We think our Subli-TEXTILE (HR) high release sublimation paper is the best on the market when it comes to transfer prints on to sublimation compatible fabrics, we would think that wouldn’t we?!

So we thought it would be interesting to test our Subli-TEXTILE sublimation paper against the market leaders, the best in the business.

We independently purchased a pack of Sawgrass Truepix Classic and TexPrint XPHR sublimation papers to test against our own paper to see what the outcome would be.

Each paper had the same designed printed on to it and we kept all the variables the same:

Printer: Epson Workforce WF7610DWF
Ink Set: Inktec Sublinova Smart DTI sublimation inks
Software: Adobe Photoshop CC
ICC Profile: None – printer managing colours

We wanted to test each paper on a range of fabrics, we chose a range of fabrics with varying texture, colour, and material weave in order to thoroughly test how each paper performed.

Chipless Epson Workforce WF-2750 Printer and Continuous Ink System (CISS)

We are proud to announce that we are now able to offer a chipless printing system for the Epson Workforce WF-2750DWF A4 printer. The printer no longer requires a microchip set on the ink cartridges to function and will always show the ink levels as full.

The chipless Workforce WF-2750DWF is available in two bundles;

The Standard Dye Bundle – for your everyday printing of documents, photos and other media.

The Dye Sublimation Bundle – for ceramic, textile and other sublimation substrate heat transfers.

What are the benefits? Well, basically the printer will print indefinitely, it will never stop to ask for new ink cartridges, it will never require the ink levels to be reset and will never stop printing during a print run.

  • The printer  will never stop and ask for new ink cartridges.
  • The printer always thinks the ink cartridges are full.
  • No stopping during print jobs.
  • No more annoying messages about non genuine inks.
  • No low ink warnings.

This is hugely beneficial to customers requiring a printer that can print very large print runs without the need to worry about the printer stopping part way through the print job to ask for new ink cartridges. With one of our modified Epson Workforce WF-2750 printers this is possible.  No more stopping to reset ink levels or change ink cartridges. No more part printed sheets. No more interruptions during the print run.

Subli-TEXTILE High Release Sublimation Paper for fabrics

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new fabric specific sublimation paper; Subli-TEXTILE, this paper will be sold along side our popular Subli-Sharp sublimation paper which we will continue to supply indefinitely.

Our new Subli-TEXTILE fabric specific sublimation paper has a high release coating which gives up to 75% greater ink release than other papers on the market in the UK. The high release coating means that more ink is released from the paper during the heat press process, more ink means brighter more vibrant colours, deeper blacks and an overall better finish.

Subli-TEXTILE sublimation paper will be marketed as a fabric specific paper to be used on all soft substrates and fabrics, it works incredibly well on polyester canvas, silk, poly-cotton and PU leather.

We have tested the Subli-TEXTILE sublimation paper on a range of Epson inkjet printers that we commonly use for sublimation printing as well as the RICOH Afico SG2100N and SG3110DN that are very popular in the sublimation printing market.

The Subli-TEXTILE sublimation paper is available to order now in both A4 and A3 sizes, we offer a range of paper sizes from 50-1000 sheets with structured pricing.

Subli-Sharp Dye Sublimation Inks now available from Ink Express

Dye sublimation printing has been around for over 15 years but only recently has the market opened to allow 3rd party resellers to supply inks for desktop format printers. Here at Ink Express we have been waiting patiently for market to open and been developing and testing our inks for dye sublimation printing.

We are pleased to announce the release of our ‘Subli-Sharp’ brand dye sublimation heat transfers inks, available for Epson and Ricoh printers.

We currently supply two different ink types one for Epson desktop models and one for Ricoh printers. Both are sourced from a US ink manufacturer and as you would expect are of the highest quality.

We often get asked if all dye sublimation inks are the same, in theory yes a dye sublimation ink works by a chemical change in the ink as it is heated allowing the ink to turn from a solid to gas instantly in turn this allows the ink to penetrate polymer coatings on various substrates transferring the printed image from paper on to the object.

However we have found that specific ink sets using specific shades and densities of colour help to produce better results depending on the printer you are using. Our Ricoh sublimation ink set for example is a lot darker and denser than the ink we supply for Epson printers. This is because Ricoh printers naturally do not apply a enough ink to paper whilst printing, so a denser ink is required to compensate for this.

Common applications for dye sublimation are ceramic mugs, phone cases / covers, cushions, t-shirts, mouse mats, the possibilities really are endless!

Our Subli-Sharp dye sublimation inks offer wonderful bright vivid colours and rich dense blacks offering a truly excellent final result at a very reasonable cost.

Here are some examples of 11oz coffee mugs produced using our Subli-Sharp inks on a Ricoh SG2100N printer-

We currently supply our Epson dye sublimation inks in black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta colours individually or in sets of 4 (CMKY) or sets of 6 (CMYKlclm) our Ricoh dye sublimation inks are supplied in black, cyan, magenta and uellow individual bottles or as sets of 4 (CMYK)

Gizmodo is always a great source of weird and wonderful creations from theworld of ink and printing. This monthAndrew Liszewski has brought usnews of an incredible new inkmade from algae which begins its life on the page completely invisibly, but develops into your drawing over time as the small amounts of cyanobacteria, algae, and chlorophyll reproduce rapidly when exposed to sunlight. Pretty cool, no? Perhaps not especially useful in the office, but absolutely indispensible if you’re in the business of leaving secret messages. Does Your Cyber Security Policy Cover Networked Printers?

The digital security of our printers is not something many people ever really consider. Frequently seen as a tool which performs a function but does not retain data, printers are frequently overlooked as a potential cyber security risk to businesses and as a potential gateway into companies’ networks. Yet, asChloe Green reports forInformation Age, only 44% of respondents to a survey of 2000 global IT professionals claimed that their security policy included networked printers.

Keen to tighten up your security and ensure your printer doesn’t pose a threat to your business, data or clients?Chloe’s blog is full of helpful information which outlines potential printer pitfalls and how to avoid them.

3D Printers Get Wheels

We may stick to traditional, affordable 2D “ink on paper” printing here at Ink Express, but we’re also fascinated by what our 3D printing friends are up to at the cutting edge of technology. As this interesting piece from3Dersexplains, one problem which has long faced the 3D printing industry is that of portability. One of the most common ways to navigate this issue has been to downsize the technology, making it increasingly compact. Yet downsizing can often lead to losses in terms of the technology and components which can fit “on board”. The alternative? 3D printers on wheels. Take a look at3Ders fascinating blog on the subject to find out more – and what the future may have in store.
